Support services are available to applicants to the Family Independence Program (FIP) to enable them to conduct the required job search eligibility requirement, and to obtain or maintain employment.
Individuals participating in an approved educational activity, training activity, Job Club, Job Search, or who have become employed may receive support services.
Support services include, but are not limited to:
· prescription eyeglasses
· medical exams
· automobile repairs/car expenses
· safety equipment
· criminal records checks
· relocation assistance
Support services also include coordination with other agencies for services such as alcohol and drug counseling, health services (non-medical treatment), housing services, vocational rehabilitation, mental health services and referral services.
To allow parents to go to work, the South Carolina Department of Social Services will provide reimbursement for child care. Parents have the right to choose the child care arrangement that best meets the needs of their children.
