Specific procedures are followed to see if an applicant for EAEDC meets the income standard for eligibility. Financial eligibility with regard to income is determined at application, re-determination, and when a change in income is reported.
The countable earned income of the filing unit is determined by first taking certain deductions from the gross household income:
· Work Related Expenses - $90 per month
· In some cases, an earned income disregard of $30 and one-third of the earned income after the above deductions have been made
· Dependent Child Care Deduction – up to $200 per month per dependent under age 2 and up to $175 per month per dependent age 2 and over
Then the earned income, after deductions, is added to any unearned income received by the household. To be eligible for EAEDC, the total countable earned and unearned income cannot exceed the appropriate Standard of Assistance for the applicable household living arrangement.
The grant amount is based on a person’s financial situation and living arrangement. See Standards of Assistance Based on Living Arrangements for more information.
