A student is an applicant or recipient who is not a dependent child, has not yet reached his or her twenty-first birthday, and is regularly attending full-time a grade school, high school, technical or vocational school, or any other secondary school in grade twelve or below. Verification of full-time student status and regular attendance is mandatory and is verified by a signed statement from an appropriate school authority.
A student loses eligibility as a student as soon as he or she obtains a high school diploma or its equivalent, stops regularly attending school, or reaches his or her twenty-first birthday.
