A family is eligible to have its Low Income Families with Children (LIFC) Section 1931 coverage extended for four months if the family becomes ineligible for LIFC-Section 1931 Medicaid because of new or increased collection of child or spousal support. This extended coverage is called Prospective Medicaid.
The family must have been receiving Medicaid under Section 1931 and must have a child (or a student age 18 who will graduate before age 19) living in the home of a parent or specified caretaker relative.
