Project CLIMB is: Consortium Leadership and Independence through Managing Benefits. Project CLIMB is for individuals with disabilities who are working or interested in working and who are receiving any type of public support.
The CLIMB program serves to enhance the delivery of services to you through benefits counseling by trained Benefits Specialists. At One-Stop Centers, you receive benefits counseling regarding:
· the impact of earnings on benefits.
· how to manage your benefits as you enter employment.
· reducing barriers to employment presented by public support programs.
· budgeting your earned income to replace public support benefits; and
· developing an Individual Budget Plan (IBP).
CLIMB participants can take into account a wide variety of programs including (but not limited to):
· Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
· Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
· Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)
· Medicaid
· Medicare
A Consortium of key state and federal agencies in cooperation with a Consumer Advisory Board help to identify barriers and implement strategies to reduce them, thus enabling individuals with disabilities to find employment.
