Alert: Your Income may Reduce your TANF Payments

If your income increases or decreases, the amount of benefits you receive through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program may increase or decrease.

If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), then you are not eligible to receive TANF for yourself. If, however, you receive TANF benefits for your dependents, you are not counted as a member of the TANF household for purposes of benefit level determination. Your SSI benefits, therefore, do not affect the TANF benefits your dependents may receive, and your TANF benefits do not affect your SSI.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI – Title II) benefits may, however, affect your TANF benefits.

This version of WorkWORLD does not calculate changes in your TANF benefit for different situations. You should contact the agency that administers your TANF program to find out the amount of increase or decrease, if any, in your benefits.
